Atelier Social vs Buffer
Buffer is the simplest scheduler you'll ever use. Atelier Social is what you reach for once simple stops being enough.
If you're a solo operator posting to a handful of channels, Buffer is genuinely hard to beat on price and simplicity. If you're running client accounts that need engagement, boosting and real guardrails, that simplicity runs out fast.
The short version
Choose Atelier Social if
- You're managing multiple client or brand accounts and need an engagement inbox, ad boosting and analytics in the same tool rather than a separate stack.
- You need scheduling guardrails that hold across manual, bulk and automated posting.
Choose Buffer if
- You're a solo creator or very small team and want the lowest possible price.
- You don't need client hierarchy, an inbox or paid boosting at all.
Atelier Social vs Buffer, feature by feature
Every Buffer verdict below comes from their own public documentation, help centre, feature pages and integrations pages, checked 12 August 2026. A dash means we could not confirm it publicly, which is not the same as saying it does not exist.

To be fair to Buffer
Where Buffer is ahead
- Genuinely the cheapest real entry point in the category — $5 per channel per month, a free forever tier and no credit card required.
- The best-known brand in the space by a wide margin: 237,000+ monthly active users and 78,000+ total customers.
- Deliberately minimal. For a single operator with a handful of channels there is less to learn than in any tool on this list.
- Having no multi-brand concept is a feature for Buffer's actual audience, not a gap. Buffer isn't trying to be an agency tool and says so.
Where Atelier Social pulls ahead
What you get here that you don't there
- Buffer cannot boost posts or run ads at all — it only analyses ad data from boosts made elsewhere.
- Buffer's own docs state it “is not able to backfill follower counts” on reconnect and instead shows an approximation extrapolated from current growth. Atelier Social backfills to the last known count.
- No client or brand hierarchy concept whatsoever — fine for Buffer's audience, a hard blocker for an agency managing multiple clients.
- No native Airtable sourcing, no reuse automation with live-trending hashtag rotation, and no per-weekday caps with a shared occupancy map.
Pricing, side by side
Buffer
Buffer Essentials $5 per channel per month, Team $10 per channel per month.
Atelier Social
Starter $79/mo (5 tag-groups) · Agency $229/mo (30) · Scale $449/mo (100, hard cap) — billed per tag-group (a niche, brand or location), not per seat or per connected account. Each tag-group bundles up to 8 connected platform accounts at no extra charge.
Buffer bills per connected channel; Atelier Social bills per audience. One niche on a single platform is cheaper on Buffer. The same niche cross-posting to four or more platforms already costs $20–40/mo on Buffer alone — more than Atelier Social's per-tag-group rate on any tier, and that's before Buffer's inability to boost posts at all.
Two things we don't offer, stated plainly: there is no white-label option on any tier, and there is no unlimited tier — Scale caps at 100 tag-groups by design, and anything beyond that is a custom-quote conversation.
